Day 40 – Artichoke

Posted in Things by Dave on February 9, 2010

Long day at work with nothing shot. Fortunately, I left my set up for the wine glass shot intact in the garage. I think I’m going to keep it there and use it for the “oh no, I have nothing shot” days like today.

Liz went to Costco today and picked up some artichokes. I saw this guy on the counter and took it to the garage for a quick picture before it dropped in the boiling water.

Tech info – 40D | 1/200s | f9.0 | ISO 100

I used the same table and similar set up as this one.

One flash to camera left aimed at white poster board background. The second flash is camera right and aimed at the front of the artichoke.

The artichoke is sitting on Plexiglas over black poster board. The Plexiglas gives the refection. The white and black posterboard reflections give a gray gradient.

I love the reflection! Those are yummy, especially when you dip into garlic butter.

Just found your project. I like quite a few of your concepts…even the ones where you just needed to get an image in the can. I know the feeling well, and find that sometimes those are the images that are working best in my own 365.

  3. […] set up info: I got home late tonight with no ideas so used my artichoke set up shot again. Seen here. […]
