Day 45 – Happy Valentine’s Day

Posted in concepts, Things by Dave on February 14, 2010

tech info:

speedlite with a snoot to narrow the light beam aimed at the ring. The background lights are Christmas lights. My friend Steve told me that if you cut a heart shaped hole in a piece of paper and put it over the lens, it will change the out of focus lights to heart shapes. I wanted to try it, he was right.

Looks great! I dig the highlight on the ring. Amazing how that works with the shape cutout over the lens. Were the lights moving around – is that one a couple of these appear to have a slight motion to them?

nope, the lights weren’t moving and the camera was on a tripod. I don’t know why there looks like motion blur. I tried everything to make it go away. The only thing I could think of that was creating the blur was the angle the lights were to the cutout.
