Day 248: This is My Street

Posted in children, Landscapes, People, Places by Dave on September 6, 2010

I was taking a nap and woke to the distinct sound of skateboard wheels grinding the pavement. I’ve always liked that sound and it brought out fond memories.

It was my neighbor, who is 8 years old and getting quite good on the board. He was nice enough to let me take his picture. But it had to be a tough guy pose. I didn’t have the heart to tell him that the grape juice around his mouth doesn’t make him look that tough.

How it was shot – There is an AB800 and AB1600 behind him to the left and right. They’re bare and aimed at about 45 degrees. They’re creating the rim light on his arms and face. There is a third flash (Canon 580ex) in a softbox right in front of him to provide fill light.

I took this shot in front of our garage but didn’t like the background so I took another picture in the street and combined the two.
