Day 355 – Kristine Lilly

Posted in children, soccer by Dave on December 21, 2010

The girls are in soccer camp with some of the sports biggest legends. They are getting coaching from Mia Hamm, Kristine Lilly, Trisha Venturini, and current Tennessee coach Angela Kelly.
Some of their combined accomplishments include 5 Olympic Gold medals, 5 World Cup Championships, and 12 NCAA Championships.

These women aren’t just great soccer players, they are really good coaches and fun people.

Day 354 – fishing for ideas

Posted in Uncategorized by Dave on December 20, 2010

With 11 days to go, I have really been fishing hard for ideas.  My Accurate Boss 870 Twin Drag never lets me down so I figured I’d pay tribute to it here.

This reel is state of the art. It’s also American made and manufactured right here in California. With their patented twin drag, you get twice the stopping power. Their drag is the equivalent of  f1.2 bokeh. Smooth and creamy. Yep, I’m a geek.

It’s supposed to rain for 4 straight days so I figured I’d catch the last of the sun for a while.

Day 349: the begining

Posted in Uncategorized by Dave on December 15, 2010

This is a Pentax ME film camera. Circa 1976. Back in the day it was considered “automatic” because you could select the aperture on the lens and it would choose the shutter speed. Manual focus. Manual film winder.
In college I took a photography course and “borrowed” this camera from my Dad. Apparently I never gave it back. My instructor wouldn’t let me use it because it was too automatic. I haven’t used it since.

I dug it out tonight and while playing with it realized there is still a half loaded roll of film in here from my college days in the 80’s. Who knows what’s on here. Maybe I’ll get the roll developed. Maybe I’ll just leave well enough alone and keep the 80’s safely tucked away in an undeveloped roll of film.

Day 348: Seal Beach Pier

Posted in Landscapes by Dave on December 14, 2010

This pier is the second longest wooden pier in California. The longest is in Oceanside.

Day 347: Aston Martin DB9 Convertible

Want to travel at 190MPH in style?  This car can do it.  Nope, I didn’t take it that fast but it’s still pretty cool to go 60 with the top down and a 1,000 watt stereo system playing. This car is amazing. Wow.

Day 346: Winter Cup Sunday

Posted in children, People, soccer by Dave on December 12, 2010

We had the Winter Cup this weekend, the final 3 games of the season. The girls played their best soccer. It’ll be nice to have weekends free for a while but I’ll also miss the jam packed weekends. Here is some Sunday action:
